The Brief
Evolve Reformer Studios was born from owner Sian's passion for Pilates, with the original Tysoe garage transformed into a private studio in 2023. As the business expanded and a larger group studio opened nearby, the original space needed to evolve once again.
The brief was to create a dedicated office area for managing the growing business while preserving everything required for one-to-one and two-to-one Pilates sessions.
The Challenge
The garage needed to serve two distinct purposes: functioning as a professional workspace while still operating as a welcoming Pilates studio.
The challenge was to create a more comfortable, room-like environment without altering the external appearance of the property or losing the flexibility of the original space.
The Design
To achieve a warmer and more refined finish, the garage door was decommissioned, insulated and internally covered, eliminating the exposed metal door and bulky motor mechanism.
A dedicated office area was introduced to provide practical workspace for the day-to-day management of Evolve Reformer Studios, while the existing Pilates facilities were carefully retained.
Although the exterior of the property remains unchanged, the interior has been completely transformed into a functional environment that supports both studio sessions and business operations.
The Result
The finished space now supports both the personal and professional demands of a thriving Pilates business.
What was once a simple home garage has evolved into a warm, adaptable studio and office, allowing Sian to continue offering private sessions while managing a business that now serves around 1,000 clients across two locations.
The project demonstrates how a garage can be transformed to support not only family life but also a successful home-based business.
FAQ
Can a garage be converted into a Pilates studio?
Yes. Garages can provide an ideal space for Pilates, yoga and other wellness activities, offering privacy and flexibility while remaining separate from the main home.
Can I use my garage as both a studio and an office?
Absolutely. With thoughtful design and clever layouts, a garage can accommodate multiple uses, including fitness, work and storage.
Do I need to remove my garage door?
Not necessarily. In many cases, the garage door can be insulated and concealed internally, creating a more comfortable space while retaining the option to reinstate it in the future.
Can a garage conversion support a home business?
Yes. Many homeowners transform their garages into studios, offices and treatment spaces that help them run and grow successful businesses.
Will my garage still look the same from the outside?
Often, yes. Many garage transformations focus on improving the internal environment while maintaining the property's external appearance.
