From Cluttered Double Garage to McLaren Home & Dance Studio
When this Surrey homeowner approached us, they had a clear vision for their double garage. They wanted to create a practical, organised space that could comfortably accommodate their McLaren while also providing a dedicated area for dance practice.
The challenge was to balance two very different requirements within one garage, whilst ensuring the finished space remained cohesive, functional and easy to use every day.
The Brief - Like many garages, this space had the potential to offer much more than vehicle storage alone.
The aim was to create a multi-purpose environment that reflected the family's lifestyle. One side of the garage would be used to house the owner's McLaren, while the other would become a dedicated dance space complete with mirrors and room to practise comfortably.
Alongside this, the client wanted improved storage, a cleaner overall appearance and better use of the available space.
A Home for the McLaren - The left-hand side of the garage was designed to provide a clean, organised environment for the owner's McLaren.
Luxury metal cabinetry provides ample storage for tools, accessories and garage essentials, helping to keep surfaces clear and clutter-free. Combined with upgraded flooring and wall finishes, the space feels organised, practical and purpose-built.
Rather than simply parking a car, the garage now offers a dedicated area that complements the vehicle while remaining functional for everyday use.
Creating a Dedicated Dance Space - The opposite side of the garage was transformed into a dedicated dance area.
Large wall mirrors were installed to create a practical practice space, while the open floor area allows for movement and flexibility. The result is a bright and versatile environment that can be enjoyed regularly without compromising the functionality of the rest of the garage.
By incorporating the dance studio within the overall design, the garage serves multiple purposes while maintaining a consistent look and feel throughout.
Smart Storage Solutions - Storage was a key part of the project.
Slatwall provides flexible wall storage for everyday items, while the cabinetry offers enclosed storage to keep belongings organised and out of sight. Loft boarding and a loft hatch were also incorporated, creating additional storage space above the garage for seasonal items and less frequently used belongings.
Together, these solutions help maximise the available space while ensuring the garage remains tidy and easy to maintain.
The Result - This Surrey project demonstrates how a garage can be tailored around the way a family actually lives.
