The Brief
Like many long tandem garages, this space had gradually become a dumping ground for bins, gardening equipment and household items. Uneven flooring, cobwebs and a lack of organisation meant the garage was difficult to use and no longer worked for the family.
The homeowners wanted to transform the space into a clean and practical storage area, with dedicated zones for recreational equipment, gardening supplies and seasonal items.
The Challenge
The existing garage lacked both structure and usable storage, making it difficult to keep organised.
The challenge was to maximise the length of the garage while creating clearly defined areas for different items, ensuring everything from children's outdoor toys to gardening tools and Christmas decorations had its own place.
The Design
To brighten and modernise the space, the walls were given a fresh coat of paint, while the ceiling was taped, jointed and painted to create a more polished finish.
Slatwall panels were installed on both sides of the garage to provide flexible storage solutions tailored to the family's needs. The left-hand side has been designed to accommodate recreational equipment and garden toys, while the right-hand side provides practical storage for gardening tools and accessories.
Additional cabinetry and a dedicated work surface create a functional area for tools, paints and the everyday items that often contribute to garage clutter. Overhead storage above the cabinets provides the perfect home for larger seasonal items, including the family's Christmas tree.
The Result
What was once a neglected and cluttered garage is now a bright, organised and highly functional extension of the home.
