The Brief
Our clients wanted to transform their garage into a well-organised, practical space where everything had its place. The priority was bespoke cabinetry with a worktop, finished entirely in anthracite and positioned precisely in line with the centre of the window.
Beyond the storage itself, the brief was to create a more considered overall appearance, bringing the walls, ceiling and floor together through a coordinated choice of finishes. The aim was a garage that felt cohesive and carefully designed, with practical features that worked seamlessly alongside the overall aesthetic.
The Challenge
The key to this project was getting the details right. The cabinetry needed to sit precisely in line with the centre of the window, creating a balanced focal point within the garage.
The different elements also needed to complement one another without making the space feel too dark or visually heavy. Combining anthracite cabinetry and ceiling panels with lighter wall finishes, a coordinated resin floor and a carefully planned lighting layout would be essential to achieving the right balance.
Alongside the visual transformation, the garage needed practical improvements to its lighting and electrics, including additional sockets and the installation of the clients' supplied car charger.
The Design
The design brought together a carefully selected palette of anthracite and light grey, with each element chosen to contribute to a consistent, contemporary finish.
Anthracite cabinetry and a matching worktop provide the main storage and workspace, positioned precisely to align with the centre of the window. Our Urban Grey Slatwall, finished with anthracite trims, introduces a lighter contrast while providing a practical, adaptable solution for organising everyday items.
Anthracite ceiling panels continue the darker finish overhead, with two matching loft access hatches creating a neat, integrated appearance. Underfoot, resin flooring in our Anthracite flake blend completes the scheme, tying the cabinetry and ceiling finishes together.
Lighting was another important part of the transformation. A new hexagonal lighting layout creates a distinctive feature within the main garage, complemented by LED batten lights in the loft area. Additional electrical sockets improve everyday practicality, while our team also installed the clients' supplied car charger as part of the project.
The Result
The finished garage is a cohesive, well-organised space, bringing together bespoke storage, a practical worktop and carefully coordinated finishes.
The precisely positioned cabinetry creates a balanced focal point, while the Urban Grey Slatwall provides contrast against the anthracite trims, ceiling panels and resin floor. The new lighting enhances the overall design, with dedicated illumination for both the main garage and loft area.
Every element has been considered as part of the wider scheme, resulting in a garage that feels organised, contemporary and purposefully designed around the homeowners' requirements.
FAQ
How can I create a minimalist look in my garage?
A minimalist garage design starts with a considered colour palette, clean lines and storage that keeps everyday items organised. In this Little Missenden project, anthracite cabinetry and ceiling panels were paired with light grey Slatwall and coordinated resin flooring to create a balanced, uncluttered appearance. Bespoke storage and integrated lighting help ensure the space looks as good as it works.
Can garage storage be customised to fit my space?
Yes. Bespoke garage storage can be designed around your available space, storage requirements and preferred finish. For this Buckinghamshire project, the anthracite cabinetry and worktop were positioned precisely beneath the window, with the worktop centred to create a balanced layout. The addition of Slatwall provided flexible wall storage, combining practical organisation with a cohesive design.
What is the best flooring for a modern garage?
The best garage flooring depends on how you use the space, the condition of the existing concrete and the finish you want to achieve. Resin flooring is a popular choice for a seamless, contemporary appearance, while interlocking garage floor tiles offer another practical option. In this Little Missenden transformation, Anthracite flake resin flooring was selected to complement the cabinetry, ceiling panels and overall colour scheme.
Can I upgrade my garage lighting, electrics and ceiling as part of a transformation?
Yes. Lighting, electrical improvements and ceiling finishes can be incorporated into a complete garage transformation, allowing the space to be designed as a cohesive whole. This project included anthracite ceiling panels with matching loft access hatches, a new hexagonal lighting layout, LED batten lights in the loft and additional electrical sockets. The team also installed the clients’ supplied car charger.
